Is A Lash Serum Right For Me?
Is A Lash Serum Right For Me? Dr. Kjar & CandessaLash serums have become a staple in the beauty industry the last few years. Longer, fuller lashes are in, but what is the best way for you to achieve them? Lash serums are an awesome and natural option and is often more cost effective. But which lash serum is right for you? Here are a few tips to consider when choosing the best lash serum for you.
What is a lash serum?
Lash serums are meant to promote healthy and expedited lash growth. It gives your lashes the boost they need to grow longer, thicker and more beautiful than ever. Whether you already have long lashes, but would like more fullness, or you have very short and fine lashes. A lash serum will work for just about everyone! Our office carries both Latisse and Revitalash.
Which serum is right for me?
While our social media timelines are often full of lash growth serum before and after photos, there are a few ingredients to consider before investing into an over the counter lash serum. Many over the counter serums are pumped full of vitamins and amino acids, which will aid in healthy lash growth, but they do not actually contain the key ingredients that stimulate growth and thicker lashes. Both Latisse and Revitalash contain these prostaglandin analog ingredients that stimulate the lash growth and thickness.
Latisse contains an ingredient called bimatoprost, and is currently the only FDA approved lash serum on the market. Latisse is prescription only, so it must be purchased inside a physician’s office. The reason why Revitalash is still placed in the same category as Latisse is that it used to contain bimatoprost as well. After a legal battle between the two lash serums, Revitalash now contains latanoprost, which is still an ingredient that will stimulate new growth, but is considered to be not quite as strong as bimatoprost.
Dr. Kjar and our aesthetician’s will typically suggest that a patient start with Latisse, and once their bottle is finished, to maintain with Revitalash. Reason being, Latisse is definitely a bit faster to see results. But it is not for everyone. With the formula being a bit stronger than Revitalash, some people with sensitive skin or eyes will notice some dryness or irritation. In that case, you are perfectly fine to start with Revitalash and stick with it! Both lash serums yield fantastic results, but it honestly comes down to personal preference and tolerance to each formula. Give each lash serum 5-8 weeks to see results.
Are lash serums safe to use with lash extensions?
To answer this question, we reached out to one of our local lash artists, Jenny LeBlanc of LeBlanc Artistry. Jenny explained that using a lash serum in conjunction with lash extensions is a great idea! Reason being, the more lashes you have, the more lashes she has to add an extension to. Giving you fuller looking lashes. The lash serum will also promote the health of the lashes which can sometimes be slightly compromised by lash extensions. So the answer is, yes! You will only see positive results by combining the two.
